CODES ACTION PLAN TO HARNESS DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES FOR A SUSTAINABLE PLANET

The Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability (CODES) released on 2nd March 2022 its draft Action Plan “A Sustainable Planet in the Digital Age”. The Action Plan lays out a set of strategic priorities to unleash the potential of digital technologies in addressing the major climate and sustainability challenges.

To this end, the Action Plan outlines 3 shifts and 18 strategic priorities across these shifts along with 12 actionable impact initiatives to consolidate and coordinate the existing efforts along with addressing key gaps. The target audience includes national and local governments, policy makers, international organisations, private sector companies, civil society, academia, and the science community. CODES highlights the importance of a collective approach to build a digitally empowered society that respect the planet. Based on several consultations with over 800 stakeholders, the draft Action Plan aspire to collect more inputs on its blueprint. CODES will present the Action Plan for a Sustainable Planet in the Digital Age at the Stockholm +50 conference from 2-3 June 2022.

What is CODES?

The Coalition for Digital Environmental Sustainability (CODES) established a global engagement platform to harness digital transformation and become a positive and exponential force for sustainability and climate action. Formal part of the implementation process for the UN Secretary-General’s Roadmap for Digital Cooperation, CODES gathers over 1.000 members from governments, companies and civil society.
