Digital for Planet at EUCNC 2024: Pioneering Sustainable Digital Transformation

Engaging in Key Discussions

Digital for Planet made waves at EuCNC & 6G Summit 2024, an event building on putting together two successful conferences in the area of telecommunications: EuCNC (European Conference on Networks and Communications), supported by the European Commission, and the 6G Summit, originated from the 6G Flagship programme in Finland.

As advocates for sustainable digital transformation, our team was excited to participate in shaping the dialogue around integrating environmental efforts and societal values into the next generation of connectivity solutions.

One of the highlights of our presence at EuCNC 2024 was our participation in the special session titled “Towards a sustainable and socially accepted 6G for society,” co-organized by the 6G4Society project. Our President and Founder, Monique Calisti, and Flavia Maragno joined a distinguished panel of thought leaders to explore how inclusivity and sustainability can be embedded into the core of 6G technology development. Central to this discussion were the Key Value Indicators (KVIs), which serve as essential benchmarks for measuring the success of sustainability initiatives within technological advancements.

Insights and Innovations Unveiled

  • The green and digital transition is only possible if all three dimensions of sustainability—environmental, social, and economic—are pursued in harmony and with an integrated approach.
  • Embedding sustainability by design in 6G development is essential for aligning technological advancements with sustainable goals, and the research community is instrumental in advancing innovations in a meaningful way.
  • KVIs will guide sustainability projects and initiatives to enable more informed decision-making, enhancing accountability and transparency.

Digital for Planet in action and looking forward

Our team collaborated closely with industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers to create meaningful content and forge connections with stakeholders from across the digital and sustainability sectors.

These engagements have strengthened our commitment to advancing a sustainable digital future and laid the groundwork for future collaborations that will shape the landscape of 6G technology and beyond.
