The year 2023 is quickly approaching, and it already offers promising new ways to support and promote sustainable digital innovation. On December 6, 2022, the European Commission officially adopted the Horizon Europe work programme 2023-2024. This document entails all Calls for funding expected to be launched in the upcoming two years to support European researchers and innovators working to develop ground-breaking solutions to pressing environmental, energy, digital, and geopolitical challenges.
The Horizon Europe work programme 2023-2024 allocates a budget of €13.5 billion to finance cutting-edge research and innovation projects. Over 42% of this budget is devoted to achieving important climate action goals, coming up with innovative ways to cut greenhouse gas emissions, and adapting to climate change. The EU’s digital transition will be aided by €4.5 billion, which will also be used to develop key digital technologies and promote their adoption in everyday life.
With over 20 years of experience in obtaining European funding and expertise in sustainable digital transformation, the Digital for Planet team has the best resources to assist you in creating a winning proposal for the upcoming 2023 Horizon Europe Calls. The European Commission has identified several impact areas where European research can make a difference, the so-called Clusters. Under the Pillar II of Horizon Europe, Cluster 4 – Digital, Industry, and Space covers two main research areas: industrial research and innovation and space. The aim is to fund initiatives deploying trusted digital technologies for a European industry that respects and safeguards our planet. The Calls within Cluster 4 focus on different R&I topics, many of which are critical to combating climate change and its adverse effects on our societies.
